ABOUT US

It all began with the Spirit filled journey of Apostle Francis Amoako-Attah as he answered the call of God in the 1990’s coming from an Apostolic and Pentecostal background, he had a passion to minister to lost souls and spread the gospel. He then started off as an Evangelist and the vision has over the years intensified to the point of desperation as the coming of Christ becomes more imminent.

It is this vision that birthed Freedom Chapel International, a Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian Church, and many other ministries, confirming the tangible Presence and Will of God. To Him be all the Glory as we remember and record our humble beginnings and how far God has brought us.

HISTORY

The Church started with Morning Devotions held by the founder in a compound house in which he lived with his friend. As the number of members increased, it grew into a ‘Prayer Group’ which was held every Thursdays and Saturdays. As time went on, it became one of the effective and vibrant Prayer Groups in the country. People were being Helped, Catered for by various means and Supported Financially, others sent for free training for skills to work with, Medically, Intellectually and shelter for the Homeless. In view of these gestures, the members and even outsiders eventually named the Prayer Group “We Care”. The steady increase in the number of the members led to the formation of a Fellowship which was named ‘International Christian Fellowship’ it was operational from June 1997 to 1999. Even up to that time services were held without any offering taken from day one.

Most of the members of the Fellowship were no more attending their regular places of worship on Sundays, they rather replaced it with their usual fellowship gatherings till they finally requested for Sunday Church Services in addition to the Fellowship meeting days, so the Fellowship was changed to a Church and named Freedom Chapel International. The name Freedom Chapel was brought up as a result of the defensive nature of the founder in seeking redemption for his members and anyone who came in contact with him, spiritually and in various ways possible. Therefore, being named a ‘Freedom Fighter’; and also a few Men of God had revelations concerning the name ‘Freedom’. The name ‘Freedom Chapel’ was then considered, and after the choice of name had been well prayed over by the entire clergy, it was chosen and officially name Freedom Chapel.

As time went on, the Church decided to move to a new location conducive enough to enhance the growth of population. This decision coincided with an announcement that was made that, Prophet Amoako-Attah (as he was then known as) was going to be ordained as an Apostle in two weeks, so thousands of worshippers came together to help put up a building for the ordination to take place there.

The historic move was made on May 15th, 2006 from our previous location (Hong Kong) Nyamekye to our present place of worship Located at Odorkor Official Town (near market) a newly acquired Church property which was built exactly in two weeks. A distance of about three (3) kilometres from the house in which we conducted our prayer group way back. Symbolically it was a significant move known across the Nation.

The history of Freedom Chapel International cannot be written without the mention of these great men and women who played significant roles in the life of Apostle Francis Amoako-Attah’s ministry and the growth of the Church. These blessed people are Rev. Dr. Nana Anyani Boado, Prophet Frank Sarkodie, Bishop Michael Adofo, (Mama Thess, Church mother) Theresa Koramah, Rev. Mrs. Mavis Amoako-Attah and the Spiritual Father of Apostle Amoako-Attah, Most Rev. Apostle Sam Korankye Ankrah.
